Welcome, everyone, to STL’s tenth Commencement Ceremony. Welcome to all of our graduates, faculty and staff able to attend in person, and welcome to all of our graduates, family and friends who are joining us remotely.

大家好！欢迎大家参加STL第十届毕业典礼！欢迎所有来到现场的毕业生、老师们，也欢迎所有远程与会的毕业生和你们的家人、朋友们！

Wherever you might be, we are coming together today to recognize the extraordinary achievement of the 85 students from 26 different China Provinces, with one from the United States, who this year have successfully completed the world’s only American Law Juris Doctor, China Law Juris Master dual degree program, much of it in English and all of it extremely rigorous and demanding. This is an academic and professional achievement only a few may claim.

无论你身在何处，今天我们将一同庆贺2021届毕业生们取得的非凡成就。他们中有84名学生来自中国26个不同省份，还有1名学生来自美国。今年，他们成功完成了世界上唯一的美国J.D.和中国法律硕士双学位课程。大部分课程都是全英语授课，并且所有课程都非常严格。这是只有少数人才能够获得的学术和专业成就。

We also are recognizing eight LL.M. graduates today, lawyers from Nigeria, Spain, Poland, the UK, Canada, the Dominican Republic, Belarus and Argentina who have enrolled in STL for an advanced degree in law.

此外，我们也要祝贺8位L.L.M.毕业生。他们分别是来自尼日利亚、西班牙、波兰、英国、加拿大、多米尼加共和国、白俄罗斯和阿根廷的律师，来到STL进一步攻读法学的高等学位。

In addition to the tremendous achievement of earning your degrees, each of you also has had several additional notable accomplishments during your years at STL.

在STL的日子里，你们不仅完成了学业，获得了学位，还取得了诸多显著成就。

Several of you secured public interest internships that have opened doors for all of the STL students who will follow – with the Asia Development Bank, with Zhicheng Public Interest Law Firm, with leading federal judges in the United States, with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and with the Immigration team of the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute.

你们中的一些同学曾参与公益法律实习，实习地包括亚洲开发银行，致诚公益律师事务所，美国联邦法院，联合国难民事务高级专员署驻华代表处，以及马萨诸塞州法律改革学会的移民团队。这将激励更多的STL后辈们投身于公益法律事业。

Several of you studied abroad, with law schools in Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, and the United States, establishing relationships that continue to serve STL today and that have extended the reputation of our students and our law school around the world.

一些同学曾远赴海外，在德国、西班牙、荷兰和美国的法学院交流学习，促进STL与世界各地法学院缔结友谊，STL一直从中受益，并使我们的学生和学院的声誉远播世界。

Several of you were named Best Oralists in international Moot Court competitions. Others were on Prize Winning teams in the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, the CIETAC International Arbitration Moot, the International Criminal Court Moot, the International Humanitarian Law Moot, and the Stetson International Environmental Law Moot.

还有一些同学在国际模拟法庭比赛中获得“最佳辩手奖”。其他同学同样在VIS国际商事仲裁模拟法庭、“贸仲杯”国际仲裁模拟法庭、国际刑事法院模拟法庭、国际人道法模拟法庭和Stetson国际环境法模拟法庭中斩获奖项。

Your many interesting externships included working with the Supreme People’s Court in Beijing, the First Circuit of Supreme People’s Court here in Shenzhen, the Shenzhen Intermediate People’s Court, the South China International Arbitration Commission, CIETAC in Beijing, and the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

你们在最高人民法院、最高人民法院第一巡回法庭、深圳中级人民法院、华南国际经济贸易仲裁委员会、中国国际经济贸易仲裁委员会和上海证券交易所等机构收获了许多有趣的实习经历。

And all of you are leaving STL for positions of leadership that will serve you, our law school, your families, and China extremely well — (i) as lawyers with leading law firms and companies, with leading State-Owned Enterprises, with highly selective government offices, and with top public interest organizations around the world; (ii) as teachers of middle and high school students, who will be exceptionally fortunate for your service; (iii) as law clerks with important courts and tribunals in China and abroad; and (iii) as post-doctoral students at leading universities.

你们所有人都将都离开STL成为行业的领军人物，或作为律师或法务人员服务于世界各地的知名的律所、公司、著名的国有企业、用人标准极高的政府机构，以及顶尖公益组织；或作为初高中学生的老师，遇到你们是学生们宝贵的人生财富；或作为法官助理加入到国内外法院和法庭；亦或是在一流大学继续深造。这将为你们自身、STL、你们的家庭，乃至整个国家带来美好的前景。

All of you are now members of an elite group of lawyers and professionals with (i) the capacity to properly analyze the most complex commercial, social and policy challenges, (ii) the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of your clients, students, and others you may represent; and (iii) the ability to create, propose and achieve solutions that are fair and equitable and that enable the continuation of productive and peaceful relationships going forward.

你们所有人都已成长为法律界的精英，你们能够准确分析最复杂的商业、社会和政策的法律问题，能够为您的客户、学生和其他人做出有力的辩护，能够创造、提出并实现促进公平公正的解决方案，促进有益的、和谐的关系持续发展。

You, and your fellow STL graduates before you, are setting new standards of professionalism for the emerging Chinese legal profession. All other lawyers in China look to you as examples of lawyers and professionals (i) whose honesty never falters, (ii) whose adherence to the highest ethical standards never fails, (iii) whose fidelity to the interests you represent is unmatched, and (iv) who are respected for their civility.

你们将和所有STL的毕业生一起，为新兴的中国法律界创设新的专业水准。因为你们始终诚实守信、恪守最高道德标准、忠实于客户的利益，并且彬彬有礼，中国的所有律师都将以你们为榜样。

It is your individual responsibility, to yourselves, to your clients, to your families, and to your law school, to live up to these expectations. These are the attributes that will account for your professional reputation. The example you set will be one of your greatest contributions to China, and to STL.

践行这些品质是你们对自己、对客户、对家人、对培养你们的法学院义不容辞的责任。这些品质也将成为你们专业声誉的重要组成部分。你们的榜样力量是对STL和中国的最大贡献之一。
