Mock Interview Workshop hosted by CSC and SWL

On May 25, Career Services Center (CSC) and the Society of Women in Law (SWL) of Peking University School of Transnational Law (STL) hosted a Speed Mock Interviewing Workshop.

What is a Speed Mock Interviewing Workshop?

It is a 15-minute role-play practice designed to familiarized students with real job interviews. Students interview with 3-5 different “employers” from STL faculty, alumni to lawyers from DLA Piper, Haibu Attorneys, JunHe, K&WM, Kobre & Kim and Vinson & Elkins. By responding to common interview questions and some unexpected ones, students gain valuable interviewing experience and brush up on professional skills. By the end of the interview, each student will receive a one-page form evaluating his or her performance, highlighting strengths and giving suggestions of areas that need improvement.

The workshop received warm welcome from students. By 2 p.m., 20 students, dressed in professional attire, sat down at a table in the moot court classroom to start their first round of interviews. For many of them, this was also the first legal interview. After several rounds of interviews, students became more experienced, comfortable and confident. At the end, the students were able to enjoy a friendly talk with their interviewers over a nice buffet.
