YANG Li is a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Transnational Law (STL) of Peking University, and a member of the resident academic faculty. Before joining STL, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at King's College London on a research project funded by the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). She received a PhD in Law from King’s College London, an LLM degree from London School of Economics and Political Science, and an LLB degree from China University of Political Science and Law. She is also a China qualifified lawyer and holds a CIPP/E certificate. Li’s research lies in the field of data protection law, with a focus on the Chinese data protection regime and the EU’s GDPR. She has published in various journals, including the Hong Kong Law Journal and the International Company and Commercial Law Review. Her researchfocuses on the interactions between the rise of information society and data protection law, the distinctions between the concepts of privacy and data protection, and the ethical and proprietary values behind personal data. More recently, she is also interested in the intersection between data protection law and corporate governance, as well as emerging AI regulations in China and the EU.
